Feel like you’ve stepped into Hollywood’s iconic Magic Castle™, where time stands still and your imagination runs wild. A complimentary glass of bubbly isn't the only perk you enjoy when you choose a Mini-Suite. It's substantially larger than a balcony stateroom and includes a separate seating area with sofa bed as well as two flat-panel TVs. In addition to the great amenities found in all Mini-Suites, you will receive Reserve Collection upgrades, including access to the Reserve Collection Restaurant. The ship’s extra space will allow for extra cabins, but it’s worth noting that the extra space isn’t quite that substantial — not enough that you would notice. All staterooms and suites on Viking Vela offer their own private verandas.

Western Caribbean
Designed for 922 passengers, the high-end vessel will be an almost identical sister to Explora 1, the line's first ship, which debuted in August. Utopia of the Seas will be based in Port Canaveral, Florida, for short three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. Fares start at $431 per person, not including taxes and fees, for a three-night sailing. With every berth filled, Silver Ray will sail with 728 passengers — the same as Silver Nova and just 132 more than the three earlier Silversea vessels.
Set Sail on Sun Princess

Silver Ray accommodates up to 728 passengers and will sail along Italy’s coastline. Ports include stops in Croatia and Montenegro, before spending the rest of its inaugural season exploring the Mediterranean. Redefining The PiazzaSun Princess‘ reimagined Piazza pulsates as the ship’s social heart. Spanning three stories, this vibrant gathering place is filled with natural light and boasts stunning ocean views. Here you’ll find cozy cafes, stylish restaurants, street performers, and a dazzling new entertainment venue perfect for lively events. Here’s the lowdown on the best new cruise ships you’ll see and hopefully experience in 2024.
BEST CRUISES 2024, 2025 & 2026
New dining venues include Royal Caribbean’s first food hall and the ultra-fancy Empire Supper Club, with its eight-course menu. If you’re a cruising fan — or even an avid traveler of any type — then you already know this new cruise ship that’s been making waves in a big way (literally). It’s just the first in a new class of ships from Royal Caribbean set to launch over the years to come. Old favorites including the Windjammer marketplace, Sorrento’s pizza and Starbucks all have their place on Icon amongst the vast range of dining options.
One such spot, the Overlook, is an elevated lounge featuring special nooks (Overlook Pods) and wraparound windows providing fantastic ocean views and easy viewing of the aqua shows. All three vessels — Icon of the Seas, Queen Anne and Sun Princess — are the three new cruise ships for 2024 that have us the most excited here at TPG. But they're far from being the only major new cruise vessels arriving during the next 12 months. The most notable of the three, Icon of the Seas, is the first of a new series of megaships from Royal Caribbean that will be larger than any cruise vessels ever built.
Elizabeth graduated from New York University's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute with her M.A. Growing up, she had the privilege of traveling frequently with her family and fell in love with cruising after sailing on the Oasis of the Seas her freshman year of high school. She wanted to pursue a career that highlighted her passion for travel and strengths as a writer. Even though Cunard is designated as a luxury line, there are more upscale options that highlight the intimate cruising experience, such as SilverSea Cruises.

You're all set
It's run completely separately from its sister brand, MSC Cruises, which caters to a mass-market audience. Inside the vessel, you'll find more lounges, bars, restaurants and shops than you can imagine, plus a huge casino, spas and theaters with Broadway-style shows. Silver Ray will initially sail in Europe before repositioning to North America in December 2024 for winter sailings to South America and the Caribbean. Fares start at $4,600 per person, including transfers, for a nine-night South America sailing out of Panama City.
Unwind inside with a separate sitting area with sofa bed and premium bathroom amenities. In addition to the great amenities found in all Cabana Mini-Suites, you will receive Reserve Collection upgrades, including access to the Reserve Collection Restaurant. Enjoy more living space, a separate seating area with sofa bed, enhanced amenities that range from priority embarkation and disembarkation to a complimentary mini-bar setup in suite and so much more. Following Silversea Cruises’ first Nova-class ship, Silver Nova, Silver Ray gains a spot as one of our most-anticipated new cruise ships for several reasons. While not the largest ship on our list of new cruise ships, or the most anticipated, Mein Schiff 7 from TUI Cruises still offers a lot to love. Each and every year, we cover the biggest and best new cruise ships that you can look forward to in the year ahead (and that you can, in some cases, already book for your next cruise!).

New features include two ocean-themed zones with new bar and dining options — including an underwater-themed bar adorned with octopus arms that will serve drinks. Like Explora 1, the new ship will offer oceanfront suites, penthouses and residences designed to be "homes at sea," and it'll be packed with upscale amenities. They will include 10 distinct culinary experiences, 10 indoor and outdoor bars and lounges, four swimming pools, outdoor deck areas with private cabanas, wellness facilities and entertainment. With bigger and better staterooms and suites, world-class dining options, amazing entertainment and technological marvels, today’s latest cruise ships are truly a wonder to behold. Basically 5-star luxury resorts on the high seas, modern cruise ships will convince even those who weren’t previously fans of cruising to give the mode of travel another try. According to data from the Cruise Industry News’ Global Cruise Ship Orderbook Report, the lineup includes a diverse selection of vessels, including mega ships, premium and luxury vessels, and more.
As we wrote about in our recent first look at Silver Nova, part of what makes this new outward-facing orientation for these ships so magical is that they don't have any structures rising from the starboard sides of their pool decks. Passengers floating in the pools on these ships or lounging on nearby lounge chairs get an unobstructed view of the sea off the starboard side. Sun Princess initially will sail in Europe through the fall before repositioning to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for voyages to the Caribbean. Fares start at $467 per person, not including taxes and fees, for a five-night Caribbean sailing. Many of these cabin categories are family-friendly rooms that sleep four guests; some can accommodate six or eight guests. In total, 313 cabins and suites are listed specifically as family-focused accommodations, though many regular room types can sleep more than two people.
Under construction at the Chesapeake shipyard in Maryland, the 109-guest ship will spend its inaugural season beginning in November offering American Cruise Line’s Florida Gulf Coast & Keys Cruise. Cruisers can expect the cruise line’s largest-ever casino aboard this ship and the most balcony cabins on a Princess Cruises ship to date. Other stand-out features include The Dome, an entertainment venue that takes inspiration from the scenery of Santorini, and which offers a pool by day and shows by night. Royal Caribbean is known for operating some of the world’s largest cruise ships, creating vacation resorts at sea, and in early 2024, its long-awaited new vessel will aim to redefine big ship cruising once again. Icon of the Seas, the first in Royal Caribbean’s new Icon class of cruise ships, is set to make its debut in January. Like her sister ship, Explora II will measure only 64,000 gross registered tons and host fewer than 1,000 guests per cruise.
To whet your appetite for cruising in the year ahead, take a look at our list of nine new cruise ships arriving in 2024. Icon of the Seas is just one of two major new Royal Caribbean cruise ships arriving in 2024. Also on the way is Utopia of the Seas, the sixth and final vessel in the line's hugely successful Oasis Class of ships. A new immersive restaurant, centered around the concept of being on a train, is being developed.
The Mein Schiff 7 is set to enter service for TUI Cruises on June 23, 2024. Under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the 2,900-guest vessel is set to spend its maiden season in Northern Europe before repositioning to the Canary Islands for the winter. Utopia of the Seas boasts a capacity to accommodate 5,668 passengers, fitting seamlessly into the Oasis Class tradition of being among the largest cruise ships in the world.
The ship is debuting the first rollglider at sea, Sea Breeze -- an electric ride that goes up to 11 mph. The area will also have a ropes course and Coastal Climb, an obstacle-course-meets-ladder adventure spanning two decks. This ship is designed to offer families of all ages an exciting and adventurous experience filled with thrills and wonder.
A previous feature on the cruise line’s ships, the Champagner Treff Champagne bar, gets a new look for better views. Other amenities include a running track, gym, spa, sports court, climbing wall, and one pool. Among its standout features are what will reportedly be the largest water park ever on a cruise ship and a striking indoor entertainment venue specifically designed for the line's signature acrobatic and diving performances.
